Sharing The Planet

Today Mr C came and talked to us about the waste system at Clevedon School.  We had written questions to ask Mr C.

"Where does the rubbish go?" asked Asha.
"Does the rubbish go in a garbage truck?"  asked Joel
Nicholas wanted to know "Where does all of the rubbish come from?"
"How much rubbish do you see everyday?" wondered Jack
Hugh asked "How long do the bins take to empty?"
Lily pondered "What do you use to clear the bins?"
Frankie wanted to know "Does the rubbish go to the recycling centre?"
Indy asked "What happens to our rubbish?  What does it turn into?"
"Do we give any of our rubbish to chickens?"  asked Izzy.

Mr C answered all of our questions.  Ask us about some of his answers!

We then went on a walk to look at the worm farms and we saw some of the food scraps in there!  We aren't allowed to put citrus scraps in the food bins anymore because the citrus fruits kill the worms!

Art Attack!

Yesterday we started our stormy scenes to match the weather we have experienced over the last week!  We painted using a technique where we swirled black paint over the wet white paint to create an interesting background. Come check out the final products later in the week!

Room 14 Rubbish
Today we collected all of our rubbish from just one lunch break. We looked at it and sorted it into groups. Izzy said we could "put all the chip packets together". Tom said "put all the glad wrap in a pile." Asha said "put all the yoghurt containers together." Nicholas suggested we "put all the bar wrappers in a pile."

Today we had a visit for the Fire Safety officers, who talked to us about keeping ourselves safe in a house fire.  There were some key messages reinforced, that we have been learning about over the past two weeks.

If you are in a house and there is a fire- Get down, Get low, Get out!!

We must have alarms in the hallway, lounge and every bedroom!

If you find lighters or matches, hand them to an adult.
