Welcome back to Term 3. Hopefully you all had a lovely break.
Thank you to Kiedis and his family who lovingly cared for "Fish and Chips" over the holidays.

Room 16 got a lovely package in the post today, our Maui dolphin pack arrived and we even got an adoption certificate. After much debate we decided to call our dolphin "Maui".

This term will be very busy with several important dates:

  • "Keeping Ourself Safe" -program all term
  • three way conferences - week two
  •  cross country  w-eek three
  • Ag day - week nine

Happy Holidays!

We hope you have been enjoying your holidays.  We are looking forward to seeing your smiling faces next week.

Mrs Boyle and I have sent away  the paperwork to adopt a dolphin, so we look forward to hearing back from WWF next week.  Thank you so much to all of the children who kindly brought in donations for this.  I have added a link to a news report that was on TV ONE in the school holidays:
News report on Maui dolphin

Just letting you know too, that Room 16 will be retested on their Spelling lists in Week 3, so keep practising these!

See you next week!

Water Care Lesson

On Friday we were very lucky to have a teacher come from Water Care to talk to us about our impact on the environment. We talked about the consequences of putting the wrong things into our waste water systems. We also did some experiments with water to see how changing an environment can impact on the rivers and lakes.

We learnt where our waste goes in pipes under our house.

We got into groups and built paths with rocks and plastic. We then poured water on our structures to see where rivers and lakes would form.

We looked at what car oil, cooking oil, paint, dishwashing liquid and food looks like if we release it into the oceans. This would make the sea life very ill.
